KELLY PAGE

🍓 Kelly Page on a Raspberry Pi

A little Pi sits next to your radio and runs Kelly all day and night. You never touch it again: just open Kelly from any computer or phone in the house.

🛒 What you need

1️⃣ Put Kelly on the SD card

  1. Get Raspberry Pi Imager from raspberrypi.com/software and open it.
  2. The easy way: Imager › App Options (bottom left) › Content repository › Use custom URL, and paste:
    https://downloads.kellypage.app/kellypage-os-list.json
Now Choose OS shows Kelly Page right at the top. 🎉
(Or download the image above and use Choose OS › Use custom.)
  3. Storage: pick your SD card. ⚠️ Double-check it's the card: everything on it gets wiped.
  4. Wi-Fi instead of a cable? When Imager asks about OS customisation, choose Edit settings, tick Configure wireless LAN, and enter your network, password and country AU. Using a cable? Choose No.
  5. Let it write and check the card (about 5 minutes ☕).

2️⃣ Plug it all in

  1. SD card into the Pi, Ethernet to the router, the radio's USB lead into any USB socket.
  2. Power in last, then wait 3 minutes. On its first start it sets itself up.

3️⃣ Say hello (once)

On your PC, open PowerShell (or Terminal on a Mac) and type:

ssh kelly@kellypage.local

It finishes with "Kelly Page is running." and your own Kelly address, like:

http://kellypage.local:8025/?connect=ip&token=abcd2345ef

That jumble on the end is your private key. It stops anyone else on your network using your radio. 🔒 Copy the whole line.

4️⃣ Open Kelly and bookmark it ⭐

Paste the address into Chrome or Edge and press Ctrl+D. On your phone, run kellypage-qr on the Pi to get the same address as a QR code.

🔧 Radio doesn't wake up? Kelly needs CCDI turned on in the radio's code plug (19200 baud, no flow control, Transparent Mode at power up). On the P25X network, the club's code plug already has it. Unplug and re-plug the USB lead and Kelly notices on its own.

Keeping it up to date

Copy the new release zip over and run one command; if the new version doesn't start, the old one comes back by itself:

scp KellyPage-*.zip kelly@kellypage.local:
ssh kelly@kellypage.local
sudo kellypage-update KellyPage-*.zip

🆘 If something goes wrong

"kellypage.local" not foundYour router's device list shows the Pi's number (like 192.168.1.23). Use that instead.
Page won't loadPull the power, wait 10 s, plug back in, wait 2 minutes.
Forgot the passwordNo drama: flash the card again. Setup takes two minutes.
